Based on the biobehavioral model of persuasion, we examined the role of message elaboration depending on challenge vs. threat framing, and argument quality. Challenge frames (low/moderate concern + high efficacy) and at times high quality arguments enhanced attitudes and behaviors, as predicted. Challenge frames and high quality arguments evoke greater message processing.
