Researchers created online dating profiles to test if the order of trait presentation (statements listed most-least vs. least-most appealing) would influence the overall appeal of a target. Participants saw both versions of each profile. Paired samples t-tests confirmed our prediction of a primacy effect. Two experiments showed that traits listed earliest had a greater effect on impression formation.
