Using latent class growth modeling, we identified three developmental trajectories of popular status over the three years of middle school. These are stable low popularity (70%), decreasing popularity (25%), and stable high popularity (5%). Stable high popularity was related to both aggression and high GPA. Only maintaining high popularity predicted depression at the end of middle school.
