This study examined the impact of supernatural primes on the relationship between viewing God as punishing and aggression. For participants primed with supernatural words, viewing God as punishing decreased aggression. The opposite was true for those primed with neutral words and this relationship was mediated by feelings of closeness to God. We will discuss implications for reducing aggression.
