Previous work has found conflicting injunctive and descriptive norms reduce behavioral compliance. In the current study, we find participants listen to the combination of both types of norms to determine when their behaviors have the most impact, specifically, when the behavior is something you ought to do but others don’t engage in it. WE will discuss future directions and implications.
