Past research has found that moral beliefs influence the extent to which one feels anger, disgust, or contempt toward those who behave immorally. The current study explores whether people vary in the extent to which they essentialize morality (view it as inborn and unchangeable), and the consequences of these beliefs on attitudes and behaviors toward people who are perceived as immoral.
