The current research examined how compassionate goals to support and not harm others influence self-compassion. The results suggested that compassionate goals may facilitate self-compassion through a cognitive process (i.e., nonzero-sum belief) and an affective process (i.e., eco-emotions). Therefore, processes in interpersonal relationships can influence one’s self-compassion.
