To examine the effects of threat on perception of own-and-other-race faces, we used a looming paradigm and the Implicit Association Task. Building upon findings where threatening stimuli (spiders and snakes) caused an underestimation in time-to-contact relative to less threatening stimuli, we utilized black and white faces to determine if we would see an effect of threat based on racial stereotypes.
