We were interested in how beliefs about the potential for human nature to be purely evil (BPE) predicted perceptions of the Executive travel bans. Consistent with hypotheses, we found higher levels of BPE were associated with support for the travel ban, negative perceptions of those affected by the travel ban, and perceiving immigrants and refugees as disruptive to American values.
